I have a dream.
I dream that one day, health and physical education will be core components of every school's curriculum and every child will learn what they truly need to learn to live their best lives.
I dream that one day, health and physical education teachers everywhere will have the resources, funding and professional development needed to thrive and do their best work.
I dream that one day, we will no longer have to fight for our existence.
My vision for the profession is one where health and physical literacy are embraced as our WHY and guide everything we do. I believe reframing our practice to develop these literacies will be a game-changer for both our students and the profession and provide the ultimate justification for including health and physical education in the school curriculum.
In my presentation "Unleash the POWER of our WHY" I had the honor of sharing my vision, and steps for achieving it, as part of the first-ever "PHYSED TALKS" session, held at SHAPE Nashville.

Health and Physical Education Collaborative
In 2014 I founded the Health and Physical Education Collaborative (H-PEC), a California based non-profit organization dedicated to providing high quality professional development for health and physical educators. H-PEC is a team of health and physical educators, who are recognized leaders in the field, with experience presenting at the local, state, and national levels. Since inception in 2014, we have provided over 70 workshops for teachers and school districts throughout California.
"Who Am I" chant
The "Who am I" chant is a tool I created to help physical educators speak with authority about physical literacy, our role as physical educators in developing physical literacy, and how physical literacy benefits children.
It as also an affirmation. A reminder to stand tall. We have an impact on the lives of children like no other!
